Andy Boynton is Dean of Boston College’s Carroll School of Management, a leading business school, the author of several books, many articles, and is co-creator of DeepDive™, a powerful and proven methodology that drives innovation and results in any business.
The Carroll School at Boston College has thrived under Andy’s leadership, and was recently ranked as the 4th best undergraduate business school in the country. Prior to joining Boston College, Boynton was a professor of strategy and leadership at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland. For over ten years at IMD, he consulted with firms around the world and was the creator and program director of one of the world's top ten Executive Global MBA programs, as recognized by Business Week.
His latest and acclaimed book, The Idea Hunter: How to Find the Best Ideas and Make them Happen (Jossey-Bass), focuses on making innovation “personal” and important, and providing motivation and guidelines to unleash every knowledge professional’s creative capability. He has also published extensively on factors underlying high-performing teams and strategy. His previous books included Virtuoso Teams: Lessons from Teams That Changed Their Worlds (Financial Times-Prentice Hall) and Invented Here: Maximizing Your Organization’s Internal Growth and Profitability (Harvard Business School Press).
Andy is a 1978 graduate of Boston College, and earned his MBA and PhD at the Kenan-Flagler School of Business, Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He has served on the MBA faculty at the Kenan-Flagler School of Business and at the Darden School of Business, University of Virginia.
Andy’s research agenda today includes projects related to innovation, leadership, and strategy, targeting firms and industries where expertise is a source of competitive advantage. He is presently creating a new methodology, called Catalyst, a transformative, condensed consulting management workshop.
