Who They Are: Mascot Books was founded in 2003 as a full-service hybrid publisher. They (along with their business/current events-focused imprint Amplify Publishing) focus on creating, publishing, marketing and distributing high-end books with thought leaders, business titans, and industry experts.
What They Do: Mascot/Amplify manages the full production of books at every stage of the publishing process. Whether authors are coming to them with a completed manuscript or just a book idea, they’ll work with the author to write, edit, design, print, distribute and market their book. They have editors, ghostwriters, graphic designers and a full marketing/distribution team in-house.
Mascot-Amplify produces high-quality New York style books, while authors retain creative control and all rights. Their distribution channels and relationships with retailers like Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Books-A-Million, and distributors like Ingram and Baker & Taylor mean their books are available wherever books are sold. In the hybrid model, authors enjoy royalty splits from 85%-100% of net retail price, own all rights, and their books hit the market much quicker than with traditional publishing.
How it Works: If you don’t have a book yet, or are looking to publish again, you can consult with an Acquisition Editor for free. They will examine each project on its merits to determine if it’s a good fit for Mascot/Amplify, and vice versa. If there is mutual interest, they will put forth a publishing proposal, and if agreed upon, will work with you to create, publish, distribute and market your book.
