Ron Jaworski Speaker Biography

Ron Jaworski, one of pro football's most resilient quarterbacks ever, played seventeen years in the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams (1973-76), Philadelphia Eagles (1977-86), Miami Dolphins (1987-88) and Kansas City Chiefs (1989). Due to his strong arm and enthusiastic leadership, he led the Eagles to the NFC playoffs four times.

Following an outstanding career at Youngstown State University, which included impressive performances in the Senior Bowl and the Ohio Shrine Bowl games, Ron Jaworski became a 2nd round draft choice of the Los Angeles Rams in 1973. After spending four years with the Rams, Jaworski was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in March of 1977. Under Coach Dick Vermeil and behind Ron's very strong arm and enthusiastic field leadership, the Eagles advanced to the NFC Playoffs in 1978 and 1979. In 1980, "Jaws" led the Eagles to a 12-4 record, the NFC Championship, and their first-ever berth in a Super Bowl (Super Bowl XV vs. the Oakland Raiders). Ron Jaworski finished the 1980 season as the No. 1 rated passer in the NFC. In recognition of his brilliant 1980 season, Ron Jaworski was selected to the PRO BOWL and won the "Bert Bell Trophy" as the NFL's MVP.

Until the time Ron Jaworski suffered a broken left leg and torn ligaments in his left ankle at St. Louis during the 1984 season, Ron had led the Eagles to the NFC Playoffs four times and had started 116 straight NFL games, thereby setting a record for the most consecutive starts by an NFL Quarterback. During his ten years (1977-1986) with the Philadelphia Eagles, Ron passed for nearly 27,000 yards, including 175 TD's. He is the all-time Eagles' leader in many passing categories, including career TD passes and career passing yardage. After becoming a free agent in March of 1987, Ron Jaworski was signed by the Miami Dolphins. Ron played for the Dolphins in 1987 and 1988. In April of 1989, Ron signed as a free agent with the KC Chiefs. Ron retired in 1990 after a season-ending knee injury sustained while playing with the Chiefs. Ron Jaworski's career statistics include 28,190 passing yards and 179 touchdowns.

Following his playing career, Ron became a sports commentator for WIP-AM in Philadelphia where he hosted The Ron Jaworski Show in 1988 and co-hosted Celebrity Sports Talk and the Eagles wrap-around shows in 1990. In 1992, he became co-host of the Eagles post-game show on WYSP Radio.

He joined ESPN in 1990 as an analyst for Monday Night Matchup. Currently, he is an analyst for two weekly NFL programs on ESPN--Edge NFL Match-Up and NFL Prime Monday. Excelling in the broadcasting field as he did on the football field, Ron was nominated for an Emmy in 1996 for his work as host of the television show, Eagles Game Live.

Besides broadcasting full-time, Ron owns and operates Valleybrook Golf Club in Blackwood, New Jersey and operates Edgewood in the Pines of Drums, P.A. Jaworski is the President of The Maxwell Football Club (the oldest football club in America), and of also the Philadelphia Soul Arena Football Team. His annual celebrity golf tournament announced this year that they've reached the One-Million dollar mark for contributions to the United Way "Jaws Youth Fund" and various other charities.
