Remoshay Nelson Speaker Biography

Major Remoshay R. Nelson is a Department of the Air Force legislative fellow in Congressman Marc Veasey’s office. In this role, she serves as an advisor, liaison and strategic planner for defense and aerospace issues considering Texas’s 33rd congressional district, the Department of Defense, and other key issues in the National Defense Authorization Act. Prior to her current position, Major Nelson served in several notable roles including an Air Force Legislative Fellow for the U.S. State Department, Aide-De-Camp for the first black Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Gen C.Q. Brown, Jr. and the Public Affairs Officer for the United States Air Force Aerial Demonstration Squadron “The Thunderbirds”. She was the first African American Female Officer to serve on the elite team and played a critical role in the team’s national salute to healthcare workers across the nation during the coronavirus pandemic. Major Nelson has also served in various leadership positions as a public affairs officer in Europe, Africa, and Asia.

Major Nelson received a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Communications and commissioned as an officer through the Air Force ROTC Program in 2011 at Howard University as well as received a Masters of Communications from the University of Oklahoma in 2014. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

Her hard work and dedication have led to countless recognitions including receiving the Key to City of Douglasville from Mayor Rochelle Robinson and being featured on Oprah.com, The Root 100 Most Influential African Americans and 2020 HBCU Top 30 Under 30. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering, roller skating and dedicating her time to encouraging and empowering minority youth to become the next generation of change agents.
