Nouriel Roubini Speaker Biography
Nouriel Roubini is one of the world's leading voices in global economics forecasting. Roubini, who has extensive policy experience as well as broad academic credentials, was one of the few economists to predict the recent U.S. housing market collapse and worldwide financial crisis.
Roubini is the cofounder and chairman of Roubini Global Economics, an independent, global macroeconomic and market strategy research firm. He is also a professor of economics at New York University's Stern School of Business. Prior to joining Stern, he was on the faculty of Yale University's department of economics.
From 1998 to 2000, he served as the senior economist for international affairs on the President's Council of Economic Advisors, and then the senior advisor to the undersecretary for international affairs at the U.S. Treasury Department, helping to resolve the Asian and global financial crises, among other issues. The IMF, World Bank, U.S. Federal Reserve, and numerous other prominent institutions have drawn upon his consulting expertise.
Roubini is the coauthor of Political Cycles, Responding to Financial Crises in Emerging Markets, and Crisis Economics. His views on global economic issues are widely cited by the media. In 2011, Foreign Policy magazine named him to its list of top global thinkers.
