Do You Perform Like a 21st Century Business Leader?
“Sustainability” is a worn out catch phrase in many circles, but in the world of finance, it’s one of the metrics that could determine who invests in your company, and who sees you as a liability. If your company is not ready to report on its sustainability initiatives, you absolutely must catch up, and Jill Buck will help you. For over a decade, Jill has been recognized as a global thought leader in sustainable business systems, and is an international featured speaker at business, public policy, and political conferences.
Sustainability, or ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance), reporting is becoming increasingly mainstream. Since the introduction of more than 100 ESG metrics to the Bloomberg Terminal in 2009, data has been gathered on more than 5,000 of the most actively traded public companies, and that data is now public to investors. Jill can help you develop procedures to:
The investment and banking communities have begun utilizing this information for evidence that companies are adequately assessing and managing economic risks associated with environmental and social issues. These economic risk factors have been highlighted by cases such as: Coca Cola’s competition for local water supplies in India; Walmart’s adverse publicity after the Tazreen factory fire in Bangladesh; and Apple’s perception problems related to working conditions at Foxconn.
In addition to ESG data on Bloomberg Terminals, other entities have begun to measure ESG performance, e.g. Reuters, the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, and the NASDAQ Global Sustainability Index.
Companies engaged in ESG reporting are actively pursuing methods to quantify their operations in terms of environmental and social impact, but the greatest challenge is developing policies and procedures to create sustainable business operations that are measurable – and therefore, manageable. Jill Buck can train any sized group to meet this challenge.
