If you’re like me, you’ve been shopping since Black Friday (well technically Thursday). It’s my favorite time of year to find the best deals, and get in the holiday spirit. I think I might be the only person in America that LOVES the crowds. However, things have changed a bit since I first started my Black Friday shopping 23 years ago. I’m still traditional in the sense that I MUST review and sort the ads in the newspaper. I make a list (and check it twice), and plan my routes to the stores. I go for hot ticket items first, and throw other deals in the cart as I move along. But this year in particular, I did just as much shopping on my phone as I did in the store. In fact, at one point, I was ON my phone IN the store, placing an order for my son’s most-wanted item that was no longer on the shelf. And that’s when it hit me: CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE MATTERS.
Throughout this entire weekend (and yes, even half way through Cyber Monday), I’ve been grateful for the “little things” that stores have done to make sure I have the best experience as a customer. Not only was I able to order something online that I couldn’t see in the store, but I also drove to Target the next day, and had someone walk it out to my car, without ever leaving my seat. The ease of online orders and tracking let’s me know exactly when I need to be home to “intercept” packages, and a picture of exactly where it is on my doorstep (thanks, Amazon!)
